HELPING HANDS FOR THE HOMELESS AND HANDICAP
Changing Their Direction
Do you have enough in life? You've probably never thought of that have you? We are taught that we never have enough and always need more. More money, bigger house, more stuff. Realizing you have enough brings peace to your life. It also allows you to help those who don't.
I will often stop and talk to homeless and people panhandling on the street corners in my hometown. I want to hear their story, see what their life is like, and see how I can help.
Personally I had set a mental goal of giving $20 per week to this cause. This changed my view when I see them, from "should I" give them money, to now I have a goal to meet each week. This made if feel more like an expected action on my part, which relieved the stress of deciding or judging if they deserved it or if i could afford it.
Regardless of how they got to that street corner, they still need to eat. But due to the random nature of their life style it was hard to follow or or see how they're doing each week or month. So i came up with an idea of giving them a Subway gift card. This could be reloaded remotely and face to face contact wasn't needed regularly. Subway was also abundant in my area, provided limited access to junk food, and has quite a few healthy options. This worked, but I can't feed more than a couple people myself. That's why I'm now looking to others to expand this success. Click the Donate button to the right to make a donation and directly help someone who needs it.
You will be matched with someone who needs help and you will be given updates on their status and see exactly how you're helping them survive.
